Elephants in some zoos and sanctuaries around the world get a chance to tuck into their Christmas dinner: A feast of donated christmas trees. Before enjoying their delicious trees, elephants young and old play with their trees, whose strong smell attracts them.
According to the Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee, these trees “provide enrichment and supplements the elephants’ decreased foraging opportunities during the winter months.”
Elephants deserve Christmas presents too.
This Christmas call your local zoo and ask if they have a christmas tree program for their animals.
